AT-6 Texan 

(1) Aircraft: Midwest kit or scratch built from approved plans. Accepted ARFs are Seagull, YH Models, CM Pro. Minimum 6.35kg (14lb) dry. Pilot bust and minimum three instruments on the panel required. Wheels minimum 100mm diameter, minimum thickness 20mm for Texans fitted with fixed gear. Radio system: 2.4 GHZ, 1700mAh RX battery minimum. One servo per control surface Minimum torque rating of 3.5kgcm (40oz-in). Elevators may use a single servo, minimum torque rating of 7kgcm (80oz-in).

 

(2) Engine: Approved list - Unmodified 20cc (120) two stroke glow engine:

  • OS 120AX (including Pylon Special)

  • Webra 120

  • Thunder Tiger 120

  • Magnum 120

  • GMS 120

(3) Fuel: 10% nitro (Fuel supplied with $15 levy added to Texan on entry form).

(4) Muffler: In cowl expansion (non-performance enhancing).

(5) Prop:  APC15x10. Prop must be unmodified other than balancing and crankshaft sizing. Pitch diameter markings must be left intact.

 

Designed as a trainer before pilots stepped up imto a WW11 warbird full size Texans race regularly at airshows all around the world. In model form this category produces such consistent close racing it has developed cult staus amongst pilots dedicated to keeping the category going. Just like the big ones
